Finished watching two animes last week: Rah-Xephon and Saikano.
I had certain pre-conceptions of anime (which was not good), but it has changed completely after watching these 2 animes.
From Saikano, a totally unconventional love story, which aptly brings out the futility of war. I cried the first time I watched it. The second time I watched it, it was even more tormentint than the first, but somehow I couldn’t cry anymore. No flashy antics to coax out your tears, just simple but the emotions displayed were so compelling. really very different from the rest of the fiction i’ve watched and read so far, and one of the best I must say. Looking out for the OVA release.
From Rah-Xephon, another anime series that had so much complexity and mystery shrouded. Enjoyed guessing and trying to pre-empt the ending. In the end, I was correct, but it was one of the best in plot-twisting in a long long time, not many books or series come close, in terms of complexity and entertainment. Touching love story in it too. Looking out for the OVA too.
I just got two more animes from Yuan Lin. Looking forward to watching it this week… then re-watching Rah-Xephon this weekend with Shane, and possibly Yuan Lin, and maybe gatekeepers.
People who read only fiction live “day-by-day”, are idealistic and unrealistic. Fiction though, keeps us in touch with our humane side and keeps alive our dreams and the hope of a better world, a better place.
Hmmz. Off to watch A date with a vampire III.
